Diwali: Festival of Newfound Compassion

Diwali Greetings from Tapas Yogi Nandhi at Ariven.org

Happy Diwali! Diwali is celebration time, like an Indian Xmas holiday season. The spiritual insight of Diwali is the triumph of good over the evil. (As with cultures worldwide, darkness consumes the light as winter approaches, so there is celebration to ring in the light).

Diwali in practice is the observation of the new. It unfolds with everyone wearing new clothes and thinking afresh. There is a new higher consciousness happening. In the past, several masters like Maharishi Mahesh Yogi declared that when the critical mass of population meditate, humanity will step into the threshold of higher consciousness, phenomenal intellect, and peace. Stillness of mind, the objective of meditation, enables the tranquil state that holds the streaming Source energy.

Eighty years ago Mahatma Gandhi said, "The human voice can never reach the distance that is covered by the still small voice of conscience."

The still small voice of conscience has now become loud in unison with scientific backing with minds enabled by meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, and all practices that enable the awareness of beings who are spiritual having a physical experience.

When consciousness awakens, the awareness of Oneness of All awakens. There is Oneness with nature. All energies present with all the masters of higher consciousness, past and present, come together as AHIMSA ("harmlessness").

The Masters of consciousness are able to walk alone in the forest unafraid of being attacked by a tiger or to sit and meditate all night in a cave not bothered by mosquito bites. This is due to the vibrations of ahimsa -- universal peace and love transcending all living forms in harmony and tranquility.

When Mahatma Gandhi spoke of "fearlessness," he was coming from this wisdom of Oneness as his Soul Force (Aadi Atma Shakti). The totality of knowing Oneness is, in fact, this ahimsa.
